Q: Are credit report monitoring monthly recurring fees tax deductible?
if not I think it for 2 reasons 1 and foremost because all the money in the banks is insured by the government so if any of it gets stolen as a result of fraud the tax payers have to pay for it so there government might as well make a 15 dollar per month tax break for people with credit monitoring .
2nd I think it's a rip off in the first place to pay someone to tell me what the banks think of me.
A: No it's not tax deductible.
If you don't want to pay for it, then don't use the service. You can check all three credit bureau reports for free yearly by going to http://www.annualcreditreport.com
Q: How can I get a copy of my credit report without having to join one of those credit monitoring agencies?
I want to ask that Is it necessary that i should join the monitoring agencies first for getting the the best credit report
A: You can visit www.annualcreditreport.com , where you can get your free credit report, but not credit scores. Credit scores are available as an add-on feature of the report, for a fee. This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
Q: What is the best credit report monitoring website?
A: the best for me is "my credit keeper" 9.99 a month and it gives you all three credit bureaus and credit scores along with a scoring calc "EX. if i get another card how will effect my score" plus it gives you a explanation on why your report is the way it is
Q: are online credit report monitoring sites reliable and secure?
I want to protect against identity theft and recently received an unsolicited credit card. It makes me question whether someone tried to obtain credit in my name.
A: I would go to your local bank, and see if they have a trial credit report program you can sign up for...
Ive done that twice with my bank, signed up for a free 30 day credit monitoring service... after 30 days its like 70 bucks a month or something retarded... So i cancelled on like 20th day after I obtained my report...
Its really kinda dumb, banks should offer free identity monitoring service... Not charge you to make sure someone isnt stealing your money which the bank is already holding for you.
One website ive also used which has a trial in which you can sign up and quit to avoid the fee, is
http://www.freecreditreport.com/
Q: Any sites online provide a credit report and credit monitoring for the main credit groups such as Experian?
A: No such place. Experian is now independent and you have to go directly through them for your score or to monitor your report.
You can still get a once a year free credit report from them though http://www.annualcreditreport.com/
Many of those credit monitoring sites are not up to date and often provide a credit score computed by them and not your real score.
I have tried several and none were correct or up to date. I now use myFICO and even that is only updated every month.
EDIT: follow Rudys advice and report the spam, I do becuase it annoys me and if we dont' report it it just gets worse.
Q: How do i write to the credit monitoring companies to ask to have something removed from my credit report?
I had a Bankruptcy over 10 years ago. I recently bought a car and the Bankruptcy is still appearing on my credit report. I was still able to buy the car by showing my Bankruptcy discharge papers.
The car dealership told me to write to the 3 major credit companies and ask to have this removed from my credit report. Any one out there ever done this?
A: Under FCRA ยง605 (a) and (b), an account in collection will appear on a consumer's credit report for 7.5 years. The clock starts approximately 180 days after the date of first delinquency on the account. To learn when an account will be removed by the credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian), add 7.5 years to the date of first delinquency. Subsequent activity, such as resolving the debt, is irrelevant to the seven-year rule. A bankruptcy will appear for ten years from the date of the final order. This date will be important for you to find out to help you dispute any potential inaccuracy.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), a federal law, requires consumer credit reporting companies to report accurate information. If you find any inaccurate information in your credit report, you should dispute the credit report listing with the bureau in question.
The Federal Trade Commission lists the following steps as the appropriate method for resolving credit reporting inaccuracies:
Step 1: Get Your Credit Report
An amendment to the FCRA requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies -- Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion -- to provide you with a free copy of your credit report at your request once every 12 months. . To order, visit AnnualCreditReport.com , call 1-877-322-8228, or complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281
Step 2: Correct the Errors
Review the report and compare the information it contains to information you know to be accurate. In particular, make sure the report contains your accurate:
Step 3: Contact the Consumer Credit Reporting Company
Tell the consumer reporting company, in writing, what information you think is inaccurate. Include copies (NOT originals) of documents that support your position. In addition to providing your complete name and address, your letter should clearly identify each item in your report you dispute, state the facts and explain why you dispute the information, and request that it be removed or corrected.
Step 4: Dispute Errors
Many providers specify an address for disputes. If the provider reports the item to a consumer reporting company, it must include a notice of your dispute. And if you are correct -- that is, if the information is found to be inaccurate -- the information provider may not report it again.
There are three major credit bureaus that offer credit reports:
Equifax
1-800-685-1111
www.equifax.com
Experian
1-888-397-3742
www.experian.com
Trans Union
1-800-916-8800
www.transunion.com
Please see the link that says "dispute_letter" to give you an idea of how to dispute the inaccuracy on your credit report.
I hope this information helps you Find. Learn & Save.
Best,
Bill

Q: Service offering 3 bureau credit report, 3 combined fico score, and credit monitoring?
I have found advertising on this subject to be very vague and often misleading.
What I am looking for is any services which offer all of the following (prefferable for one single monthly payment)
1) credit report monitoring and alerts for all 3 bureau's reports
2) availability to view all 3 reports at any time
3) true credit/fico scores for each of the 3 bureaus
4) true overall fico score (based on the 3 combined)
4 may be moot if overall fico is simply an average of the 3 bureau's reports.. Anyway, please tell me of any services that provide this and the cost if you know it.
Thanks in advance.
Please, I am not looking for more advertisements. I am looking for personal experience or findings.

Need to know where can I find credit report with scores and credit monitoring.I know a program for that, but not sure is that the best.
Could you please suggest me the best program you know about that.Hope someone will help me.
A: The now famous site, www.freecreditreport.com, is run by Experian. Each of the 3 major credit bureaus runs credit monitoring sites like this. Monthly fees are like $20-$35 monthly and allow you to pull your credit report from that credit bureau as often as you like--daily even.
When other agencies (e.g., car dealer, credit card companies, apartments) pull your credit, your credit record is annotated and may take a ding. There is no penalty or mark when you run your own score.
